Tell Harrisburg: No More Cuts! Preserve Funding for Kids by Ending Special Interest Tax Breaks

Critical Budget Vote May 25th

The recession has increased the demand for public services, yet the Pennsylvania General Assembly has responded with cuts ― to early childhood education, libraries, family literacy programs, safe schools, prevention and other services families depend on.

With a budget shortfall that could reach $1.5 billion by June, the General Assembly wants to make still more cuts. No program will be safe.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will vote this week on HB 2435, which would raise needed revenue to preserve funding for early childhood education, K-12 education, children’s health, and other essential services by taxing large tobacco and energy companies, closing corporate tax loopholes and ending a special tax break for Pennsylvania’s largest corporations.

PARTICIPATE IN STATEWIDE CALL-IN DAYS

MONDAY MAY 24TH AND TUESDAY MAY 25TH BETWEEN 9am 5pm.

PLEASE CALL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVES - DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS - EVEN IF THEY ALREADY SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH - WITH THIS MESSAGE:

I am a constituent and urge you to support HB 2435:

• Before making additional service cuts that will hurt Pennsylvania families and our fragile economic recovery, please raise new revenue.

• Solving the budget crisis with cuts alone will leave thousands more Pennsylvania children and families vulnerable.
