Movie Night @ PCCY: "Pressure Cooker"

PCCY is pleased to present our ongoing series of documentary screenings and discussions.

We invite you to join us on Monday, May 16th for “Pressure Cooker” -A moving, inspirational and tremendously real reminder of what the right teacher can mean to a kid looking for a way out.

“Pressure Cooker” documents an entire school year at Frankford High School's infamous Culinary Arts “boot camp” for students. At the end of the school year, culinary students from all over Philly compete in a one-day cook-off, where top chefs judge the students’ skills and talent.  Scholarships are on the line; success will depend upon how dedicated they’ve been over the last year - enduring stressful home lives while still finding the motivation to wake up at 6am to get to class early enough to master crepes and tournee potatoes.

The showing of this documentary will take place at 5:30pm in the United Way Building, located at 1709 Benjamin Franklin Parkway.  RSVP to info@pccy.org or call 215-563-5848 x 11.

PCCY's 30th Anniversary Party - Another Successful Event

More that 400 people joined us at the Crystal Tea Room on April 27th as PCCY celebrated 30 years of successful advocacy for children and families in our region.

Highlighting the evening were performances by students from the High School for Creative and Performing Arts, ensembles from Tune Up Philly and The Philadelphia All City Choir along with dancers from the Point Breeze Dance Company and poetry by Jacob Winterstein.  There was also a fantastic silent auction with over 80 items sold!  Click here to see pictures from our event.   We hope you'll join us next year - stay tuned for details...
