Budget Vote in PA House Today!
Dear Friend of Children,
When members of the Pennsylvania House vote on the budget later today or tomorrow they will hold our children’s futures in their hands.
Will they cast their votes to cut basic education funding back to 2008-2009 levels, jeopardizing small class size; electives; and art, music and sports? Or will they continue this funding and the academic achievement that goes with it?
Will they cut full day kindergarten and pre-k, or will they restore this funding and ensure that our youngest students enter school ready to learn?
Will they cut funding to improve child care quality and make it accessible to more of Pennsylvania’s working families?
Will they make all these cuts and more – to children’s behavioral health services, to safety net services, children’s health care – or will they use Pennsylvania’s half billion dollar revenue surplus and raise additional revenue by closing corporate tax loopholes in order to give Pennsylvania’s children a better change to succeed?
The House vote will not only impact next year’s funding, but also establishes baseline funding for future years. Your immediate action will help shape this vote.
Please take a minute to tell your state Representative to:
- Restore all funding to basic education and full day kindergarten;
- Restore all funding to early childhood education; and
- Use all available revenue, including the projected surplus and new revenue raised by eliminating corporate tax loopholes, to pay for a budget that supports children and youth.

Thank you!
