Encourage Senators to protect low-income children and programs that serve them by calling 1-888-907-1485 (toll-free)
Today, October 5th, people all across the country will be calling their Senators to make sure that deficit reduction doesn’t mean more people going hungry. We need you to join them.
Pennsylvania Senator Toomey sits on the Super Committee that’s now debating a deal to reduce the deficit. Some proposals could cut essential programs that families need to get by; programs like Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), housing assistance, child care and other important services. This deal could make things worse, not better.
Both Senator Toomey and Casey will have a role in the final budget vote.
Please take a few minutes today to call 1-888-907-1485. Follow the instructions and you'll be connected to the offices of Pennsylvania’s Senators.
Here's a message you can use:
Hi, my name is ____ and I am from ___. No deficit reduction plan can work if it does not rebuild our economy by protecting children and families who depend on Medicaid, food stamps, and other basic safety net programs. Such a plan must have increased revenues from upper-income households and large corporations. I urge Senator ___ to support such a plan, and to reject proposals that harm poor and working families stall economic recovery.

Please raise your voice today and contact your Senators on behalf of parents everywhere who are struggling to put food on the table. Call toll-free at 1-888-907-1485.
Thank you for all you do.
Sincerely,
Shelly Yanoff, Executive Director
