Stand For Schools
Dear Concerned Parents and Community Members,
The fight for our schools is in full swing. Here at PCCY, we have just learned that the state house budget will be voted on as early as this Wednesday. I am writing to ask you to donate one hour of your time to help on that front and to attend the City Council Hearing this Wednesday.
Wednesday (May 25, 2011) will be a critical day:
City Council will hold a hearing on education and they must hear from concerned parents and community members. We are asking City Council and the Mayor to:
- Cover the cost of transportation for our students;
- Increase the School District's share the real estate millage tax.
The meeting will be held this Wednesday, May 25th from 1pm to 6pm at City Hall on the 4th floor. Please stop by at any time in between. If you feel compelled to speak, that is wonderful and you can register at 215-686-3407.
Tonight, May 23rd, you can help by phone banking on behalf of our schools. Without restoring cuts to education, our students will face schools in September without kindergarten, small class size, the arts. Join us from 5pm to 7pm at 455 N. 5th Street. Park in the lot beside the SEIU office and look for the big purple bus where the phone bank is located. Or walk a few blocks from the Spring Garden station on the Market-Frankford El.
Feel free to call Kate with questions regarding phone banking: 201-344-3909 (cell)
Feel free to contact me with any other questions at 267-304-5929 (cell)
Sincerely,
Shanee Garner
