WE DID IT!
With your dedication to speaking out, signing petitions, and standing up for children we are happy to proclaim victory!
Our cards, phone calls, and public testimony before City Council has raised public awareness for funding the education of our children. Had it not been for each and every one of you, there is a good chance that the educational situation for our children would be much bleaker. Before we move onto our next challenge, let us be sure to relish in the product of our hard work before pressing on.
Victory:
- Over 2000 cards to State Legislators
- Over 1500 petitions to City Council
- Restoration of Full Day Kindergarten and Transportation
Next Steps:
Rally Against State Budget Cuts To Our Schools And Our Communities
Thursday, June 9th at Noon
City Hall, Dilworth Plaza, NW corner of City Hall
Please bring an umbrella and to let everyone know that it’s raining on our children
Looking Forward: 2 phone calls 2 demands
- Call City Council and tell them that their work is not done: Our children still need counselors, nurses, early childhood education programs and accelerated schools and, they must do whatever it takes to fund our schools
- Call your State Representatives and State Senators and tell them that their work is not done: Restore cuts to early childhood and basic education and, fund public education by using the surplus, taxing Marcellus Shale, closing corporate loopholes.
With your help, we can ensure that all of our kids get their best possible education come September. Take Action and contact your legislator by going to www.pccy.org.
Now that we have realized our power to demand the best for our city we must look ahead with the vision of good schools for all. It is not enough to have kindergarten and transportation—our students need to walk into schools come September and see the adults that care for them.
About this E-Alert
In an effort to keep our friends and colleagues up-to-date on what’s going on with children and families in our region, PCCY will, from time to time, issue an E-Alert on an issue that we need YOU to take action on! We will provide you with the information on the issues and we need you to take the action step(s) that are listed above.
We hope that you will join us in helping to protect the lives and life chances of children and families in our region by doing something TODAY to help protect their tomorrows. However, if you would like to be removed from the e-mail list and receive no further updates, please send an e-mail to info@pccy.org.
