Tell the Governor to Restore T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships!
On Wednesday the Governor's office announced that TEACH Scholarships have been completely eliminated from the budget, threatening the ability of nearly 2,000 teachers, working with 51,000 children, to complete their educations. Until now TEACH has been supported with state and federal funds. The legislature eliminated state dollars in the budget that was signed into law on June 30. Acting on its own, the Governor’s office then decided to eliminate the federal portion.
There is a real risk that asking the administration to restore state TEACH funds would occur at the expense of child care subsidy. But the Governor’s office can restore federal funds without jeopardizing subsidy.
