Final Legislative Push to Reverse Cuts in Education, Child Care!
Dear Friend of PCCY,
This is it: after three months of negotiations, State House and Senate leaders are working on a budget agreement that would cut millions of dollars from K-12 Education and Child Care, placing programs that serve hundreds of thousands of children at risk beginning July 1.
The Senate could propose a budget as early as Saturday and voting could be completed next week.
This may well be our last opportunity to reverse devastating cuts next year. Call or write to your Senator and Representative. Tell them to:
- Fully restore funds for child care and early childhood education;
- Increase funds for the Accountability Block Grant and Basic Education; and
- Use all available resources – including the projected $1 billion surplus and fees from natural gas – to balance the budget.

Please take action even if you’ve already contacted elected officials this year. We’re in a new phase of budget negotiations and they need to hear from you today!
Thank you for all the work you’ve been doing on behalf of the region’s kids.
