Tell Congress: Avoid Deficits Tomorrow by Investing in Young Children Today!
Dear Friend of PCCY,
If we don’t invest in quality, affordable early care and education today, our country will face an even bigger federal deficit tomorrow. Programs like the Child Care and Development Block Grant, Head Start and the Early Learning Challenge Grant/Race to the Top help our children, benefit taxpayers and enable parents go to work.
Yet some members of Congress believe spending on these programs is too high. Even though the federal government spends less on early learning today than it did ten years ago, these programs are extremely vulnerable in this year’s federal budget negotiations.
Please click here now and tell Senators Toomey and Casey and your Representative in Congress that the best way to ease the deficit is by investing in the next generation.
Urge them to support quality early care and education. Remind them to take a balanced approach to reducing the deficit, one that relies on revenue increases, not only cuts to essential services like early care and education.
Thank you for all you do on behalf of young children!
Sincerely,
Shelly Yanoff
PS: Early learning is one of many services for children that are vulnerable in current federal budget and deficit reduction negotiations. Throughout the fall and early winter PCCY will post new information and analysis on the federal budget page of its web site.
