Meaningful Way to Spend MLK Day
Are you looking for a meaningful, fun and healthy way to celebrate Martin Luther King (MLK) Day with family and friends?
If so, then put on your walking shoes and join Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) “Tell Us What You Want” initiative on Monday January 18th.
Make an impact on the future of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania by volunteering to go door-to-door asking folks in the local communities what they want the Mayor of Philadelphia and the next Governor of Pennsylvania to focus on during their terms.
Survey questions will be provided and the findings will be used by PCCY to create a voice of the people report to share with the gubernatorial candidates for consideration as they develop their 2010 campaign platforms. We will share the mayoral information with the administration to help them shape ongoing policies.
Volunteers will meet at the MLK Headquarters at Girard College anytime between 9am and 11am to begin their MLK Day of Service. PCCY will provide directions for the target neighborhoods around Girard College, questionnaires, clipboards, pencils and a t-shirt. Completed surveys need to be returned to MLK headquarters by 4 pm on January 18th.
Can’t make it to Girard College? January 18th not a good date? You can still participate by conducting the survey in your local community anytime between January 16 – 24. Questionnaires and a return envelope for completed surveys will be provided.
